PUBG: Battlegrounds went free-to-play in 2022, and its hardware requirements have remained largely the same since its early access days. It’s one of the more forgiving battle royale games in terms of minimum spec a GTX 960 technically gets you in the door. In practice though, PUBG is an open-world battle royale with large maps and long render distances, which means hitting smooth framerates takes more than the minimum. The recommended spec with a GTX 1060 and 16GB RAM is where the game starts feeling consistently good.

PUBG Performance: Map and Settings Guide
PUBG has several maps with very different performance profiles. Erangel and Vikendi are the most demanding due to their large open vistas and detailed environments. Sanhok is more enclosed and typically runs 10-15% better. If you’re on minimum-spec hardware, Sanhok is the most playable map.
The most impactful settings to reduce are View Distance and Shadows. View Distance affects how far terrain and objects render reducing it from Ultra to Medium significantly improves performance on outdoor maps without impacting close-range combat. Anti-aliasing is also worth dropping to Medium or off on older GPUs.
From my experience, the sweet spot for PUBG is a GTX 1660 Super or RX 5600 XT with a modern 6-core CPU. That combination delivers consistent 80-100fps at 1080p on Medium-High settings, which is smooth enough for competitive play without needing a high-end rig.
